The body of a woman found in the Kern River earlier this month has been identified as a Bakersfield resident who was last seen in the river in early March, coroner's officials said. 

At approximately 10:11 p.m.the Kern County Fire Department received multiple calls for a structure fire in the 1900 Block of Flower Street.

The Kern County Sheriff's Search and Rescue unit risked the swift, treacherous Kern River on Saturday looking for a rafter last seen a week ago just east of Hart Park, but the hours-long effort on an unusually warm spring day yielded nothing but weary searchers by late afternoon.

The search for a young Bakersfield woman lost in the Tule River in Tulare County has been suspended, the swift flow and frigid waters too dangerous for emergency crews, said a Tulare County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Saturday.

Responding to a report of vandalism at Beach Park in central Bakersfield, police officers arrested three men Friday night on suspicion of firearms violations, vandalism, gang participation and conspiracy.

A man was shot in Lamont on Wednesday night about an hour after deputies were called to a report to people fighting in front of a residence at the same location.

Search and rescue personnel from the Kern County Sheriff's Office are continuing to search at Hart Park for a rafter who has been missing since the weekend.
