The second Bakersfield Marathon, held Sunday morning on 26.2 miles of city asphalt, came down to a photo finish. Angel Alcantar of Pacoima leaned in at the tape to finish in 2 hours, 30 minutes and 4.0 seconds — one-100th of a second better than Justin Patananan of Lancaster, who finished with a time of 2:30:04.01. Jesus Campos of Fresno finished third in 2:30:43.3.

Ramona Sanchez of Sparks, Nev., won the women's open division with a time of 3:00:22.3, a scant 10 seconds ahead of Gisele Schaaf of Long Beach, who ran 3:00:32.4, and Tracee Warwick of Bakersfield, who did her hometown proud with 3:01:35.3.

About 1,800 runners entered one of the event's three races — a marathon, half-marathon and 5-kilometer race.

In the men's 20 to 29 age division, on the heels of overall champion Alcantar, was Orlando Sanchez of Salinas, second with a time of  2:58:35.7, and Jacob Tackett of Bakersfield, who placed third with a time of 3:24:23.7.

For the men's 30 to 39 division, Justin Patananan of Lancaster placed first, Jesus Campos of Fresno placed second and Angel Echevarria of Los Angeles placed third with a time of 2:49:58.9.

For the men's 40 to 49 division, Sergio Cruz of Culver City placed first with a time of 2:53:12.5, Chris Park of Chino Hills placed second with a time of 2:57:56.8 and Carlos Salcedo of Bakersfield was third with a time of 3:20:58.0. 

For the men's 50 to 59 division, Youngjin Kim placed first with a time of 3:09:16.9, Javier Cruz placed second with a time of 3:15:45.9 and Alem Kebede placed third with a time of 3:21:01.8. All three live in Bakersfield; Kim was the top local runner of the day.

For the men's 60 to 69 division, Joe Ogata of Pacoima placed first with a time of 4:04:48.7, Muammer Joseph Temel of Bakersfield placed second with a time of 4:13:53.0 and Ric Llewellyn of Bakersfield placed third with a time of 4:34:11.7. 

For the men's 70 to 79 division, Max Elbaum of Oakland placed first with a time of 5:28:36.9, Gene Schudlich of Templeton placed second with a time of 5:34:24.7, and Dennis Mori of San Leandro placed third with a time of 6:42:36.7. 

For the women's 19 and under division, Calin Hertzog of Bakersfield placed first with a time of 4:46:36.6. 

For the women's 20 to 29 division, Cici Pandol of New York, N.Y., placed first with a time of 3:45:55.0, Stephanie Powell of Bakersfield placed second with a time of 4:27:44.1 and Paula Soto of Irvine placed third with a time of 4:34:45.5.

For the women's 30 to 39 division, Gisele Schaaf of Long Beach  placed first, Kelly Blikre of Casper, Wyoming placed second with a time of 3:29:10.0 and Kelly Bugarin of Moreno Valley placed third with a time of 3:32:06.6.

In the women's 40 to 49 division, following overall women's winner Sanchez and second-place finisher Warwick, was Mi Lam of Vacaville, who placed third with a time of 3:22:54.1.

For the women's 50 to 59 division, Trisha Douda of Woodland Hills placed first with a time of 3:27:13.5, Stacy Anderson of Visalia placed second with a time of 4:06:41.2 and Dana Sullivan of Bakersfield placed third with a time of 4:07:04.9.

For the women's 60 to 69 division, Janet Lynch of Visalia placed first with a time of 5:26:52.7 and Karen Queally of San Bruno placed second with a time of 6:39:01.0.
