Most Wednesday nights (check Kern Celtic Scene on Facebook for updates), a group of musicians gathers at Dagny's Coffee Co. in downtown Bakersfield to play and sing Irish folk music. In addition to guitars and fiddles, you'll hear traditional Irish instruments being played, such as the Irish bouzouk, the bodhran drum and wooden flutes. Called the "Bakersfield Irish Trad Session," the group started in 2005 and has been at Dagny's since January 2008. The music starts at 7 p.m. and goes until around 8:30 so come downtown to Dagny's (20th and Eye streets), grab a pint and listen to some great music. It's free!
