Name of murder suspect shot by Delano police finally straightened out

A murder suspect fatally shot on Aug. 30 by Delano police has been identified as 29-year-old Ruben Vega Reyna, the coroner’s office said.

Reyna, of Delano, allegedly shot and killed his sister's boyfriend that day and then held police at bay for three hours in the 100 block of Calle Pinuelas. He died in a shootout with SWAT team members, police said.
The name the suspect's sister gave police was false, but Reyna’s identity was confirmed by a birth certificate from Mexico. At first, police thought that the name Ruben Reyna was an alias.
