Woman arrested on suspicion of attempted extortion

Police arrested a 22-year-old woman who is accused of trying to extort money from a man she robbed at a vehicle accident.

On July 29, the victim got into the accident with two suspects near Ming Avenue and Wible Road, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. Details of the crash were not available on Sunday.
The female suspects used a knife to rob the victim and obtained the victim’s cell phone number, police said. One of the suspects said she would call him later for more money.
On Aug. 1, the suspect called the victim to arrange a meeting. The victim told police about the meeting in which he was supposed to give her money.
Police arrested Karisa Gonzales De La Cruz on suspicion of robbery and attempted extortion. Police were looking for the second suspect on Sunday.
