Police are searching for a second suspect in the possible gang-related stabbing of two teens.
Authorities have an arrest warrant out for Julio Lopez, 19, of Arvin, who is believed to be responsible for stabbing the teens on Sunset Boulevard outside of Arvin on Sunday.
Lopez is Hispanic, about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 120 pounds. Charges against him include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and participation in a criminal street gang, according to a news release.
Lopez is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Lopez should contact the Kern County Sheriff’s office at 861-3110 or Detective Cesar Ollague at 392-6007.
On Thursday, police arrested the other suspect, Erick Alvarez, 20, of Arvin. He was charged with suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and participation in a criminal street gang, deputies said.
Witnesses of the stabbings said it was a gang-related crime and gave deputies nicknames for the suspects. Both teens were out of the hospital on Friday, Ollague said.
