Democratic Assemblywoman Nicole Parra should be stripped of her credentials as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, as well as committee assignments and staff, according to the Kern County Democratic Party.

In letters mailed Tuesday, the party chastised the incumbent assemblywoman, in her last year before being termed out, who has been supporting, introducing, promoting — everything but officially endorsing — Republican Danny Gilmore of Hanford to take her place.
The Democratic Party would rather see another Democrat in the office. But the Democrat running is Fran Florez, who may be in the same party but is from the wrong family.
Florez, a Shafter city councilwoman, is the mother of state Sen. Dean Florez, who supported Michael Rubio’s unseating of Pete Parra, Nicole’s father, from the Kern County Board of Supervisors.
In a letter dated Monday, the party says Kern County Democrats supported Parra in three close elections, and she should at least not work against their candidate.
“Since you do not participate in nor send a representative to local, regional or California State Democratic events, meetings or conventions, we do not expect you to know that we have a Democratic candidate,” said the letter, signed by Kern County Democratic Party Chairwoman Candi Easter.
Electing Democrats in the area is hard enough, the letter said, without Parra working against the party. If she can’t stop doing it, the party has a suggestion.
“Enclosed please find two Kern County Voter Registration forms,” the letter said. “It is obvious that your loyalties no longer lie with the Democratic Party.”
Parra could not be reached for comment Thursday evening.
The county party also sent letters to party and Assembly leaders asking for the punishments.
