Sheriff’s investigators from Bakersfield are on their way to determine exactly what happened, according to Sheriff’s Commander Dan Leper.

The shooting happened at 1131 N. Calvert Blvd., where deputies were called to a report of a disturbance. They were told that a man had assaulted his father and was threatening to shoot deputies, Leper said. This happened at around 5:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they exchanged fire with the suspect. The man was hit, deputies were not, Leper said. The man’s wounds were not considered life-threatening, Leper said.
