MARVIN DEAN has been elected to the board of directors of the National Black Contractors Association. Dean serves as president of the Kern Minority Contractors Association. His election to the national board took place last weekend at the National Black Contractors Industry Summit in San Diego.

Roberson Real Estate announced that RONDA NEWPORT and WALLY NEWPORT have joined its team of Realtors.

Ronda Newport worked for the Kern County District Attorney's office for 17 years, and later opened a home décor store.

Wally Newport worked for 12 years with the Bakersfield Police Department and 18 years as an investigator with the county District Attorney's office.

STEPHEN ERMIGARAT has joined Bank of the Sierra as vice president and branch loan officer, the Porterville-based institution announced. A longtime Bakersfield resident, Ermigarat has 30 years of experience in finance and credit management, as well as a finance degree from Cal State Bakersfield and a graduate banking degree from Pacific Coast Banking School.

Sun World International LLC, a large fresh produce company based in Bakersfield, announced four personnel appointments as part of an administrative reorganization.

DAVID HOSTETTER was named Sun World's chief administrative officer. He is to oversee finance, accounting, human resources, corporate compliance and legal affairs/enforcement, among other responsibilities. Hostetter has served as the company's chief financial officer and senior vice president of administration since 2005. He previously worked as chief financial officer at Sun Pacific Shippers.

ALEX P. SHAFER was appointed corporate controller within Hostetter's division. A certified public accountant, Shafer has more than 20 years of experience in accounting, finance and corporate development. He formerly worked as division controller at Standard Pacific Corp., a large home builder. He earned a master's degree in business administration at Brigham Young University.

KEVIN ANDREW was named chief operations officer, a position in which he is to oversee farming operations, supply chain/logistics, water assets management and research and development. He has served the company as senior vice president of operations since 1996. Andrew is senior vice chairman of the board of directors of Western Growers.

DAVID MARGULEAS is now Sun World's chief marketing officer. He is to oversee global sales and marketing, business development, sourcing and licensing. He has worked as the company's senior vice president of licensing and corporate development since 2001. Marguleas is a member of the board of directors of the California Table Grape Commission, and is second vice chairman of the California Grape & Treefruit League's board of directors.
