Rosedale school district to lay off 11 part-time workers

The Rosedale Union School District Tuesday agreed to lay off 11 part-time employees, nine of which have been with the district one year or less, Superintendent Jamie Henderson said.

Positions include clerks, P.E. and recess aides and custodians. They will be put on a re-hire list.

This was the last piece in preparing for next year’s $2.1 million shortfall following the governor’s proposed cuts to education funding, he said. This year’s budget was $30 million.

The district last month notified about 22 teachers, including first-year probationary teachers, long-term substitutes and people on short-term permits or who not fully credentialed, Henderson said.
