Suspect in DUI crash charged with second-degree murder

A woman arrested last month in connection with a fatal drunk driving crash was charged with second-degree murder Friday afternoon.

Donna Kathleen Brinkman, 44, is accused of driving drunk on July 28 of last year and hitting 76-year-old Robert Morrison on Highway 33 in McKittrick, according to the Taft Midway Driller.

Brinkman was also charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing bodily injury and driving while her license was suspended or revoked for DUI, the Kern County Superior Court Web site said.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 10.
