Negotiations with the district's teachers association began in mid-September and are still ongoing.

District employees are seeking a 5.52 percent pay increase, plus health and welfare for all employees and retirees, said Darla Bramlette, association president.

The district is offering a 2 percent raise and a 3 percent one-time stipend.

Negotiations are moving more slowly than they usually do, said Gerrie Kincaid, assistant superintendent for educational services.

The two sides will next meet on Jan. 25.
