As the dust clears, the two remaining towers of the old Kern Power Plant are seen lying on their sides after the implosion knocked them to the ground at Coffee Road and Rosedale Highway early Saturday morning.

Social media came alive on Saturday morning in anticipation of the implosion of Pacific Gas and Electric's Kern Power Plant in northwest Bakersfield, but it quickly turned to shock as spectators learned about the injuries to several people in the nearby Lowe's parking lot.

Several people, including one critically, were hit by debris and shrapnel as they watched from the Lowe's parking lot just east of the power plant, which was being demolished. The blast went off at 5:58 a.m. and people noted the event all morning via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
