The Philadelphia Phillies selected Garces catcher Jake Sweaney in the fourth round (pick No. 121 overall) of the Major League Baseball Draft on Friday. It's the highest a Kern County player has been picked since Centennial infielder Brent Morel went to the White Sox in the third round in 2008 out of Cal Poly (Morel eventually made it to the big leagues, though he's now back to Class AAA after an injury-ridden 2012).

Anyway, Sweaney was watching the live webcast of the draft at his home today with friends and family when his name was called — unlike football and basketball, baseball players often don't get a call from the team that picks them until after they're announced. The reaction is priceless, and it's captured on tape, thanks to Jake's dad, Andy:
