It's been an insane week here on the third floor of The Bakersfield Californian. And yes, I mean more so than usual!
Every morning this week we've had the crew from First Look here about 6 a.m. to prepare for full run throughs. Yes, we've done the full three-hour show everyday just so we could identify any potential problems, get used to the set, and make sure everything went as we expected.
For the most part it did.
Newsman Jeff Lemucchi has been writing the news with story tips from Web Editor Christine Pertersen. Producer J.R. Flores knows what all the buttons and switches do, and Digital Content Manager Louis Amestory has been running around like a mad-man to make sure we all had what we needed.
And of course, Scott Cox is doing what he does best — talking. And talking, and talking.
We couldn't make it happen without the whole crew, including Steven Nickalaus, Bob Lewis, and Rogers Brandon at KERN Radio, and Logan Molen, Chris McCullah, Richard Beene, Bob Price, Matt Munoz, and the rest of the newsroom here at the Californian.
And a HUGE thanks to Rocky Robins and Adam Wages for all the uh ... building modifications they made for this project.
We've built, we've adjusted, we've fixed, we've laughed, we've cringed, and now we're ready to go.
First Look with Scott Cox debuts at 7 a.m. Monday on KERN Radio AM 1180, with a live video simulcast Bakersfield.com.
Here's a preview from Friday morning's run-through:
And our first guest? None other than Congressman Kevin McCarthy, R-Bakersfield.
Call in at 842-KERN and stay tuned for more fun! Talk at ya Monday morning!
