Nitromethane fumes drifted through the air Friday at Auto Club Famoso Raceway as three days of testing got under way at the track in preparation for the annual March Meet nostalgia drag races March 6-10.

Around 75 cars were in the pits on Friday and track manager Blake Bowser expected that number to swell to around 200 by Sunday.

Among those in the pits were a handful of Top Fuel and Funny Car drivers, including Mark Sanders of Maple Valley, Wash., who was testing a brand new Funny Car.

Sanders crashed his old mount at the March Meet last year, built a new one — this one with a Mustang body  — and took it for it’s first test run on Friday.

We'll have more videos and updates at the March Meet draws near.

Lots of great cars and good stories out there.
