KONRAD MOORE has been appointed Kern County Public Defender. He had worked as interim public defender since the death of his predecessor, Art Titus, in October. Moore supervises a staff of 62 lawyers handling more than 35,000 cases a year. He joined the Public Defender’s Office in 2000 and become Chief Deputy Public Defender in 2008, taking over as Chief Assistant in 2011. Before coming to Kern, he spent a year in private price. He served six years as a deputy district attorney, first in Stanislaus County prosecuting jury trials, then in Monterey County prosecuting juvenile gang offenses. He earned his law degree at the University of California, Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UC Berkeley and a Certified Public Accountant license.
