No Luck Needed for the American Optional in Vegas

The American Academy Optional team started off their season with a successful trip to Las Vegas. All 4 gymnasts competed against some of the top gyms in California.

Level 7 Datiah Towns scored an average of 9.4 on every event climbing her to second place all around with a 37.6. McKenna Davis also had a great competition with a Vault score of 9.2 and Floor 9.2. She placed 6th place with a 36.075

Level 8 Alexa Schacher rocked the house taking the gold in the all-around with a 35.8. She also took 1st place with a solid beam score of 9.2

Level 9 Kayla Cross has a different story. Kayla had not competed in over 3 years due to injury and hip surgery. Las Vegas was her first competition back in the game and took 2nd on floor with an 8.675 and 4th in the all-around.

American Academys' Head Coach Vanessa Atler was pleased with their debut performance and is ready to get back in the gym. "We still have a long way to go, but I am proud of my girls. We have to continue working hard and it will all pay off in the end."
