Kaleb Ross netted his first hat-trick of the season in Saturday's PeeWee game

Three Bakersfield Dragons hockey teams took advantage of home ice this weekend. The Mites and the PeeWees came out on top, while the Squirts fought from behind to end in a tie. The Mites beat the Bay Harbor Red Wings 7-6. The PeeWees bested the Anaheim Wildcats 5-2. The Squirts tied the Channel Islands Riptide 4-4.

In the Mites game, the Dragons were behind in the third period, but kept fighting until they got the game winner. Mark Hutchinson got a hat-trick, Gavin Mears had two, and Adrian Gomez and Luke Perri each netted one apiece.

In the Squirts game, the Dragons were down by three at the start of the 2nd, but Jacob Clanahan put the Dragons on the board with a quick backhand over the goalie’s stick. The Riptide scored minutes later, but the rest of the goals were off Dragons’ sticks. Aaron Garza, Banson “Shorty” Sweaney, and Matthew Perri each got one, tying the game at 4-4.

The PeeWee game saw back-and-forth scoring from the Dragons and the Wildcats. Chaz Catallo put the Dragons up first, but the Wildcats answered early in the 2nd. Kaleb Ross netted a Power Play goal early in the 3rd, only to have the Wildcats tie it up once again. After that, however, it was all Dragons. Ross got two more goals, earning him his first hat-trick of the season, and Catallo scored late in the third.

All Dragons teams will be back on the ice the weekend of January 5th.
