With just six wins in 23 games, the Condors are obvioulsy lacking in several areas.
Scoring goals is certainly one of those.
Condors coach Matt O'Dette addressed that problem on Saturday as he claimed rookie forward Brett Lyon off waivers from Orlando. Lyon (6-foot-2, 195 pounds) was waived by Orlando, Fla., on Friday and was due to arrive in Bakersfield on Saturday evening. He will play in Sunday's game against Stockton.
“One thing we don't have enough of is grit and character,” O'Dette said his his team, which has just one win in the last nine games. “(Lyon) is a warrior. He's not going to light up the scoreboard but he's going to work his butt off. He hits everything that moves and fights.”
Lyon, a left wing, played in just nine games for the Solar Bears, amassing 39 minutes in penalties with no points.
Last season Lyon had 164 minutes in penalties in the Western Hockey League while putting up 36 points (13 goals, 23 assists).
