The last couple of weeks have been great for Bakersfield’s PD Richardson. He started by winning the second week of the Coffee Club on November 25 at Regency Lanes with partner Bill Bumacod. Richardson shot games of 211, 218, 197 and 213 that helped them to a score of 1818. Besides that, he was in the 3-6-9, which only he and Bumacod were able to be eligible for that day so they competed against each another to see if either could win the $90 pot. PD did just that.
This past weekend, Richardson competed in the San Joaquin Bowling Club Singles Tournament at Regency. The tournament had 31 entries with several from Bakersfield coming to support this event coming to town. Although he qualified seven for the top eight, and then came in sixth after four games of Match Play, Richardson soared to the top, tying with Clovis’ Joel Laster with a score of 1508 — a first for San Joaquin Bowling Club to have a tie for first place. This meant they had a one game roll off to determine the champion and Richardson emerged again for his first San Joaquin title bowling, a 236 game against Laster’s 205. Congratulations PD!
JBT (Junior Bowlers Tour) California Baker Open
Local bowlers Jimmy Hefley and Andrew Svoren made their way to Canoga Park Bowl this weekend to participate in the annual JBT California Baker Open along with 24 total 5-man teams.
The lane conditions were absolutely brutal, with many teams not shooting a 200 game at all in the 12-game qualifier. Neither Andrew nor Jimmy’s team made the top 12 team cut, although Hefley won the halftime nine pin or better strikeout contest that leaves the last man standing, good for $50.

Pro Shop Christmas Raffle Update
With three more weeks to go in the annual Bowlers Edge Pro Shop Christmas Raffle, the winners are already lining up to claim their prizes as more than $800 in gift certificates were given away the first week alone.

There are five Grand Prize winners this year — four receiving a $200 gift certificate to the Bowlers Edge Pro Shop and the fifth receiving the radio-controlled monster truck located in the front case across from the front desk at Regency.
