American Academy of Gymnastics competed this Saturday, November 3, 2012 and shined taking advantage of their home turf. Every Level 4 gymnast on the American team qualified and will compete at the State Championships in two weeks. With their hard work and determination the gymnasts have been progressing consistently throughout the season, along with the help of their coaches Sunny Hulse and Melanie Sloan. Some of the highlights of the day were Rebekah Powell scoring the highest all-around for American with a 37.05 and placing in the second all-around. She also received a silver medal for the uneven bars. Brandee Galvan scored a 9.4 on the vault giving her a bronze medal. Nicole Kim also scored a 9.4 on uneven bars placing her in 5th. Katelynn Mitchell took 5th place all-around and posted the second highest score for American with a 36.925. She also received a bronze on uneven bars with a 9.45. All of the other level 4 team members that had qualified were Reanna Rowland,Sarah Graessley,Halle Rice,Victoria Moore,Amanda Winslow,Hannah Ward,Grace Witcher,and Victoria Rosales. The level 4 American Team will be competing at the Pasadena Convention Center on Nov. 17-18.
