Former Bakersfield Condor (2004-05) Lars-Peder Nagel continues to play hockey in his native Norway, but also has a business on the side and has launched his first product — a children’s app for ipad and iphone called the ABC Wheel.

iTunes Preview describes the app as “an entertaining and instructive ABC game for children between the ages of 2 and 6. The game has 4 activities that allow children to become familiar with the letters in the alphabet using different techniques. The activities are as follows: puzzle, find the letter, write the letter and an interactive slideshow with many different motives.”

Nagel first developed the app in Norwegian, which he said was well received, and launched the English version in July.

“The english version (ABC Wheel) has been downloaded around 1500 times, so we are just getting started,” Nagel wrote in an email. “The norwegian version (ABC-hjulet) has about the same number of downloads.

“The feedbacks are great so far and parents email me and say that their kids use the app a lot and that they learn the alphabet!”

Nagel said he is currently working on children’s book for ipad to be released early next year as well as apps for the private business sector which he expects to launch within four to six months.

Nagel’s only season of North American hockey came with the Condors where he scored 56 points in 66 games. He helped lead the Stavenger Oilers, which play in Norway;’s top pro league, to the championship last season. The teams was runner-up the previous season and also won the championship in 2009-10.

He is playing for the Oliers again this season along with Dan Kissel, who played 11 games for the Condors in 2009-10 and was with the Aces last season.
