Cal State Bakersfield has added to its men’s basketball squad with the addition of 6-foot-7 forward Corey Hall from Ventura College.
Hall, a native of Chicago, averaged 12 points and 11 rebounds for Ventura last season. He shot 46 percent from the field and 37 percent from 3-point range.
He had two strong games to conclude his junior college career. Hall had 16 points and 20 rebounds to help Ventura upset L.A. Southwest College, then had 18 points and 22 rebounds when Ventura was eliminated from the postseason in a loss to San Bernardino Valley College. Hall was an All-Western State Conference North Division pick last season.
“We’re excited to add Corey to our team and to our fanily,” CSUB coach Rod Barnes said in a release. “On his visit he was a great fit with our team and had a great bond with them off the court, so we can expect the same thing to happen on the court next season.”
Hall is the second player to sign a letter-of-intent with CSUB men’s basketball. Sacramento High School forward Eric Kinney signed during the fall signing period.
Barnes said he hopes Hall will help bolster the Roadrunners’ inside presence. The top two inside players the last two seasons, Donald Johnson and Rashad Savage, were seniors last season.
CSUB has eight returnees from last season’s 16-15 squad, plus three players who redshirted in 2011-12: Brandon Barnes (the coach’s son), Javonte Maynor and Kregg Jones.
