Accepts strays from City of Bakersfield residents and offers a low-cost vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to noon every Friday at the center. The city also launched a trap-neuter-return program that allows city residents to have feral or unowned cats fixed for free. Call Critters without Litters, 831-6000.

Kern County Animal Services

3951 Fruitvale Ave., 868-7100, Facebook.com/KernCountyAnimalServices. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays. Visit any Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for a weekly low-cost vaccination, licensing and micro-chipping clinic.
