The inmates will be taking over the asylum at West High tonight and Friday with the performance of "The Nut Factory, a Two Act Farce."

The McNutt Home for Disturbed Adolescents is a charity operation that needs an endowment to keep it running year to year. At the opening of the play, the head psychiatrist, Dr. Fruedler, is missing and no one knows where he is. The bank that handles the endowment money is sending a representative to ensure that the home is running well, and to allocate the year's allotment of funds. Panic sets in as the moment nears, and the fun begins.

Geina Owens, drama teacher at West High, directed the play, saying "there are several diverse characters in the McNutt Halfway House, and even though there are a lot of patients, each is a different personality." She also said "this play was much harder to stage because of several areas that needed attention."

This is the first play she has directed with two rooms on stage at the same time, a much more daunting task.

Jesse Alvarenga, in the part of Old Man Johnson, says: "Well, as usual, all the cast and techies have worked hard to make the show come together; it is great!"

Mateo Lara, a sophomore who plays Herbie, offered a telling quote: "Mrs. Owens is scary to work with, but it is worth it!"

Nick Wood, a freshman, plays the huge role of Barry: "It is a bit overwhelming to have a large part, but it has been a lot of fun. It is my first year of high school and it is quite a change."

Gabriella Baker, as Sally, one of the patients, says "this play is very funny, and I know it is going to be a hit."

The result of all these individuals' efforts? A very funny, fast moving, and enjoyable evening.
