Mountain lion attack?
A man was reportedly attacked by a mountain lion Sunday in the Frazier Park area, said Kern County Fire Department Engineer Darrell Buck.
The man was taken to an art gallery in Pine Mountain Club with superficial wounds.
Where and how the man tangled with the cat is unknown, Buck said, adding he had no information on the critter's size or how it was identified.
State wildlife officials will be looking into the matter.
Knife-wielding woman is shot
A woman was dead in Shafter Sunday, local television stations reported, after she allegedly lunged at Shafter police officers with a knife.
Scanner traffic indicated the incident, in the 300 block of Euclid Avenue, took place around 4:35 p.m.
The woman's identity was not available at press time.
