The devastation left behind by the earthquake in Haiti in January is still being felt in the hearts of Cal State Bakersfield students. The CSUB Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America is hosting Rock Out for Haiti, a benefit supporting the efforts of Doctors Without Borders. The event will take place on Friday, the two-month anniversary of the quake. It runs from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Replay Lounge & Grill, 4500 Buck Owens Blvd.

Local bands Meditated Assault and Shilo will perform. Meditated Assault is a variation of rock music that band members explain as being "influenced by Pearl Jam and Guns 'N' Roses."

Shilo has shared the stage with popular bands Taking Back Sunday, The Used and Anberlin. Their latest hit, "You'll Never Know," is currently playing on the airwaves.

Also appearing at the benefit is L.A.-based group Glen and the Sunshine Gang, whose hard dance rock sound and energetic live performances promise to bring the audience to their feet. The mixing magic of DJ M1ke will then fill the room from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Becky Reese, president of CSUB chapter of the public relations group, says: "We are really excited, because this benefit has a little something for everyone to enjoy while donating to a very important cause."

A significant portion of the $10 door admission will be donated to Doctors Without Borders. Guests 18 and over admitted and welcome.
