Bakersfield's The Councilmen Band is premiering their first video, featuring the song "Boxcar Sermon" at Sandrini's on Friday.

Rodney Powell, producer of the video, is the current drummer for the late Johnny Cash's band "The Tennessee Three."

Powell first heard the band last summer during a contest hosted by Great American Country, "The Next GAC Star." He was looking for unique material and had passed on hundreds of songs before coming across "Boxcar Sermon," by the Americana band with influences of folk, country, rhythm and blues and rock.

"I was blown away at the vocals and sound of the song and I kept track of their progress on GAC," Powell said.

Soon after, Powell made contact with the band, and members Keaton York, Julian Sanchez, Taylor Haley and Kyle Appleton were off to Tennessee and Alabama, where they spent a week in December shooting their first video.
