If you like a little culture and art to go with a holiday filled with lights, crowds and shopping, head over to Christmas Around the World for displays of nearly 2,000 Nativities, antique Bibles and more.
In addition to American customs and traditions, the exhibit features displays from countries like Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, France and Russia, according to Sherrie Lewis, coordinator of Christmas Around the World.
The event, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, was formed mostly from the personal collections of Lewis, Elizabeth Waite and Mary Jane Harvey. Lewis has been collecting Nativities and ornaments for 25 years, and Harvey contributed 275 manger scenes. Anna Keene and Sharleen Kelsey have contributed original artwork.
Also on display are more than 500 nutcrackers, a Santa collection, gingerbread houses,
vintage pieces and beautifully decorated Christmas trees.
