Cheers! Thursday is National Cabernet Day, paying tribute to the full-bodied and fruity cabernet sauvignon. For local oenophiles and occasional imbibers, that is a reason to celebrate.

And, yes, we want to have fun but won't that wine be just a bit more satisfying if there's a deal to be had? Of course, it will. Tahlia Fischer, a local distributor for Wine Warehouse, helped us track down some local deals to enjoy on the big day.

Black Angus Steakhouse (3601 Rosedale Highway): Enjoy half-off any bottle of cabernet (with the purchase of an entree) and $2 off any 6-ounce glass or 9-ounce carafe of cabernet.

Wine Me Up (3900 Coffee Road #2): All-day special including a small cheese plate, four different cabernet samples to taste/try and a bottle of cab to go for $30 per person.

Sonder (9500 Brimhall Road): $5 glasses of cabernet.

Wiki's Wine Dive & Grill (11350 Ming Ave #260): "Huge discount" on select bottles of cabernet. Call 399-4547 for details.

Imbibe Wine and Spirits Merchant (4140 Truxtun Ave.): Mention National Cabernet Day and receive a $20 wine bar card for only $10. Customers can also get 10 percent off the purchase of a bottle of cabernet.

Cafe Med (4809 Stockdale Highway): Receive 20 percent off retail cabernets and $5 off wine list-priced cabernets.
