When you head out to the theater to watch the blockbusters this summer, you'll have a couple more local options with Studio Movie Grill set to open April 12 and Maya Cinemas nearing completion on its Delano location.

Is Bakersfield ready for dinner and a movie in one convenient location? Studio Movie Grill in northwest Bakersfield is ready to put that to the test — along with some cocktails.

The much-discussed theater at 2733 Calloway Drive is the sixth California location for the Dallas-based chain, known as the leader in in-theater dining concepts. It will also be the second in town to serve alcohol, along with AMC Bakersfield 6 on California Avenue.

SMG Bakersfield — a 46,037-square-foot establishment encompassing 10 screens and 1,350 luxury seats — will open in time for the opening of "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Solo: A Star Wars Story."

The new theater will offer customers an enhanced movie-going experience with the latest in laser technology, Dolby 3D and Q-SYS custom sound systems housed in its 10 auditoriums, according to a news release. Each theater will feature VIP custom-made luxury leather recliners by Inorca, plush leather lounge chairs with individual dining tables and "push-for-service" call buttons.

In addition to the dining amenities, SMG Bakersfield will be able to serve alcohol at its full-service lounge and bar area.

The theater is set to employ more than 275 team members and is looking to fill a number of hourly positions. Prospective employees are welcome to apply in person at SMG’s hiring space located at 2765 Calloway Drive, Suite 100 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday or through the SMG website at studiomoviegrill.com.

Maya Cinemas is also currently hiring for its new theater, which will be located on Woollomes Avenue in Delano.

The chain is accepting resumes and applications for all positions. Those interested can pick up an application or drop off a resume at the Bakersfield location, 1000 California Ave.

No date has been announced for the opening of the 12-screen theater in Delano but expect to take in those summer films there.

The wording wasn't too hard to understand, unlike other blogs. Great job. Star Lord Jacket
