While many children spend the last days of holiday vacation glued to electronic devices, the creative kids headed to the Bakersfield Museum of Art had a different pastime in mind. Those attending Wednesday's session of the Kids Winter Art Workshop explored the theme of "Nature and the Self," using pastels, watercolors and other mediums to find a connection between nature and art.

The R Street museum offers children's workshops twice a year during school-year holidays, giving students an opportunity to create works of art during their school break. The workshop continues Thursday starting at 9 a.m. Admission is $35 or $30 for children of museum members. Call 323-7219 or visit bmoa.org for more information.
