Local author and artist Aliza McCracken will serve as guest speaker at the Ladies of the Lord (LOL) meeting on Saturday. The mission of the women's ministry at St. Philip's Church is to provide spiritual nourishment, companionship and support to women.

McCracken plans on sharing her story about exploring one's passion and purpose. The session will also include breakfast, an exhibition of her paintings and book signing.

In an excerpt from her speech, she says faith and creativity are intertwined:

"With God’s inspiration, art can be transformative. When you discover and embrace the fine art of living, all things are possible.

"I think every person has the potential for connecting to a universal flow of creativity. When we approach life with openness, we can become aware of our role in all creation."

The gathering will be held at the church, 7100 Stockdale Highway. It begins at 8:30 a.m in Logan Hall with hospitality, followed by the program from 9 to 11 a.m.

There is no charge to attend but a free will offering is welcomed.
