During the June 4 Delano City Council meeting, the Delano Kiwanis presented council members with a Fourth of July fireworks budget and requested sponsorship to help fund the project.

The council agreed to meet the overall cost by sponsoring half the overall budget. This year’s fireworks display would cost Kiwanis about $13,000. In past years, the city has assisted with $3,000 for the project.

After a short public and council discussion, the outcome pleased the Kiwanis presenter as the council voted 3-0 to fund the project halfway at $6,500.

The Kiwanis representative shared that this increased sponsorship would clearly enhance this year’s program for our residents.
