Casey Christie, 48, has been a Californian photojournalist since 1983, prior to that I worked at the Kern Valley Sun in Kernville.
As a photojournalism student at Sacramento City College in the late 70's the fabulous instructors gave me the inspiration to pursue the photojournalism field.
"I like my job because of the variety involved, different types of assignments, meeting people and the freedom of traveling and photographing what I see while driving from my home in the Kern River Valley to Bakersfield and back each day."
Having four children, and being happily married and working in my church as a Sunday School teacher keeps me busy doing what I love most.
My favorite subject to photograph is nature, animals and scenery, because they don't talk back or ask any questions. I've never heard a bird say, "I said no pictures man."
When people ask what kind of camera I use, or do I use digital or film, I usually say the camera doesn't have much to do with it, but I do thank the Lord every day for my eyesight, which is what it's all about.
