Christine Bedell
Government Editor
Christine Bedell became an editor in September 2005. Before that she was a general assignment reporter - meaning whatever piqued her interest or an editor needed done at the last minute - with an emphasis on local politics.
Bedell joined The Californian in 1998, first covering medicine then county government, where she endured hours upon hours of Board of Supervisors' meetings - but got lots of good stories, too.
Bedell was born and raised in the South Bay of Los Angeles County then went off to the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in print journalism in 1995.
She's also reported for the Columbia Missourian, Spokane Spokesman-Review (as an intern in Washington, D.C.) and Santa Maria Times.
