Christine Peterson, Growth and Economy Editor
661-395-7418
Christine Peterson works with reporters covering the local economy. A smattering: real estate, retail, shopping, restaurants, agriculture, oil and new energies, development, cars, growth, employment and aerospace. If it’s about how we make money and spend money, we want to know about.
Her journey to this job, you might say, started when as a high school student, she loved to write but wondered, “Who will pay me to write?” What began as a love of writing morphed into a love of sleuthing out information and asking lots of questions.
Christine started pounding the pavement and asking questions as a student journalist at Santa Clara University, where she graduated in 1995. She went on to report at The Orange County Register.
She joinedThe Californian in 1997, and her smart editors let her move from being a crime reporter to education reporter to copy editor to assistant city editor to business editor to local news editor to growth and economy news editor.
