Rohatsu Sesshin Zen Retreat will be held Dec. 8 and 9, 2017. -
Rohatsu, or Bodhi Day, is celebrated every year around the world on December 8th to commemorate the day that Siddhartha Gautama experienced enlightenment.
In Zen, we celebrate during sesshin, a retreat offering intensive practice of zazen (sitting concentration), kinhin (walking concentration), and samu (work practice).
Sesshin literally means "touch the mind." This retreat is an excellent opportunity to experience true Zen practice, whether you are a long-time practitioner or just beginning.
This event will be held at the Center for Spiritual Living, housed in a beautiful and historic old brownstone in downtown Bakersfield. Included with your registration: Zen introduction for beginners, Intensive Zen meditation, Mondo question and answers, Qi gong led by an experienced practitioner, Saturday breakfast and lunch, and a post-sesshin celebration with hors d'ouevres.
Those without prior experience are welcome. For more information and to register online email firstname.lastname@example.org.
One-day Saturday attendees are welcome for the same cost. Register in advance before Dec. 6, 2017. Standard Registration: $50 Fellowship Member in Good Standing: $45 High School or College Student: $40.
