The Health and Safety Street Faire on Chester Avenue from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. will feature free blood glucose testing, stroke screenings, clean-air vehicle demonstrations, and eyeglasses donations as well as food, shopping and entertainment, said Bakersfield Downtown Business Association President Cathy Butler.

The association will announce the winner of the children’s coloring contest, while grown-up artists will display their work in Wall Street Alley.

There will be a rock-climbing wall and free horse-drawn wagon rides. Jerry’s Pizza will offer barbecue and the Kern County Scottish Society will sell bangers. Satisfy your sugar cravings with smoothies and Italian ices.

The final street fair, featuring an environmental theme, will take place June 19.
