Sponsored by the university alumni association and the Bakersfield Wine Society, the wine tasting in Alumni Park starts at 5:30 p.m., half an hour before gates open at the jazz festival.
Party in the Park will feature samples from 40 wineries, including Robert Hall Winery, Vista Del Rey Vineyards, Souza Family Vineyard of Tehachapi, Eberle Winery and the quirky Red Zeppelin Winery, said CSUB Alumni Association Director Shannon Hill.
Green Frog Market will provide gourmet sausages, such as chicken apple and Cajun. Cheeses, a chocolate fountain and light hors d’oeuvres will be offered.
Bid on items in the silent auction, including the big catch, a weekend in Cayucos valued at $350. Wines and game tickets will also be auctioned.
At last year's Party in the Park, nearly 700 attendees raised more than $9,000 for the Alumni Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for CSUB students returning for their master’s degrees, according to a university release.
Tickets are $40 in advance or $50 the day of the event. Available for pre-purchase only is a special weekend package that includes Party in the Park and both days of the Bakersfield Jazz Festival for $90. A Friday night package is available for $70.
