Jorge Barrientos has come full circle, so to speak. He moved from Orange County to Bakersfield when he was in elementary school, attending McKee Elementary in Greenfield. Then came Ollivier Junior High and Ridgeview High schools, where he was involved in journalism all four years.

Klassen Corp. to award community college scholarships

Klassen Corporation will, for the second time in 2011, award scholarships to California Community College students who are enrolled in construction, construction management or computer aided design/CADD programs. The five scholarships ($1,000.00 each) recipients will be announced on December 2, 2011.

To be eligible for the scholarship you must:

(a) Submit your scholarship application on or before November 10, 2011 (b) be enrolled at a California Community College in an undergraduate program concentrating in construction, construction management or CADD; (c) have a least two semesters to complete; and (d) have an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 from the previous school year.
