Kern County Fire Department crews were busy Thursday night and into Friday morning, receiving three structure fires calls. The first call, received at approximately 11:14 p.m. on December 22, 2011, was for a reported vehicle fire next to a residence on Oxford St. Fire crews took quick action, keeping the fire confined to the vehicle. Loss was reported at $2,000.
The second call, received, at approximately 06:42 a.m. on December 23, 2011, was for a structure fire in the 1800 block of Terrace Dr. On arrival crew were faced with a fire involving a detached garage. Crews confined the fire to a storage room inside the detached garage. A fire loss of approximately $20,000 to the structure and its contents was reported.
A third fire, immediately following the structure fire on Terrace Dr., was reported at approximately 07:38 a.m. Upon arrival, crews encountered a rapidly-building fire in a vacant home at 1924 High Street This fire appeared to have started on the rear porch and then spread into the attic. An aggressive interior attack by Battalion 3 crews stopped the extension into the attic and reduced estimated losses to approximately $20,000.
All fires are under investigation. No injuries have been reported.
