Autopsy: Taft girl's death caused by blunt force trauma

The autopsy of a 3-year-old Taft girl who died Tuesday found that her death was caused by blunt force trauma to the head and abdomen, a Kern County Sheriff's Department news release said Friday.

The death was ruled a homicide, the release said.

Her mother's live-in boyfriend, Eric Edward Foster, 26, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of the girl, identified as Trinity Monique Hanna, sheriff's officials have said.

Foster was booked on suspicion of aggravated mayhem, torture, three counts of willful cruelty to a child and three counts of inflicting injury upon a child, according to the sheriff's department website.

As a result of the autopsy, Foster has now also been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.

Trinity's mother brought her to San Joaquin Community Hospital at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, where doctors unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate her, deputies have said.

She died at 7:49 p.m. at the hospital, according to a coroner's news release.
