What's being built at Sillect Avenue and Arrow Street?

Q: Do you have any idea what they are building on the corner of Sillect Avenue and Arrow Street, across from the Exotic Kitty? There is a dirt lot that for most of the year has been overgrown with weeds. This past week there are graders and water trucks clearing the weeds and pushing dirt.

A: Bakersfield Planning Director Jim Eggert responded:
Our records show that the property is owned by the Kern County Electrical Pension Fund. The approved development plans show construction of two buildings, one with office space, classrooms and a vocational lab. The other building will consist of office space and union hall.
