Q: In the lakes on Truxtun Avenue there are two "frog"-looking things floating in the water with what appears to be solar panels. What are these things used for?

A: Those are SolarBees, solar-powered water circulation machines that help maintain pH and dissolved oxygen levels -- keeping the water fresh, said Bakersfield Water Resources Manager Art Chianello.
They've been there for several years, he said.
