Update on Cici's Pizza, Highway 99 potholes

Editor's notes: On Aug. 9, in part of an Ask TBC answer, we said we were still waiting to hear back from the Cici's Pizza restaurant chain about whether it has any plans to open an eatery in Bakersfield. We've since heard from company officials that they don't have any such plans now.
And here's an update to an Ask TBC we published Aug. 2 on how to get Caltrans to fix potholes on Highway 99 from about David Road/Copus Road to Herring Road. Michael Ornelaz, who asked the question, e-mailed us last Thursday:
... I "returned on Monday to find that the potholes had been repaired. If you could please pass on my deepest appreciation and gratitude. It reassures me that the people of Bakersfield care about the conditions of our city and the well being of all that use our highways."
