Ashley Michele Killingsworth and Michael Richard Ortwein

Mr. and Mrs. L. Stowe Killingsworth of Newport Beach, California, formerly of Bakersfield, are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter Ashley Michele to Michael Richard Ortwein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ortwein of Newport Beach.
    Ashley is a 1999 graduate of Garces Memorial High School, where she was a cheerleader for four years, an active member of the Varsity swim team and mentor to underclassmen. The bride-to-be attended the University of Southern California where she received a Bachelor Degree in Communications and also became a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Ashley then attended Pepperdine University where she received her teaching credential and a Masters Degree in Education. She is currently teaching first grade at Lincoln Elementary School in the Newport-Mesa School District.
    Michael is a graduate of Newport Harbor High School, where he was on the water polo and swim teams. He attended the University of Colorado where he received a Bachelor Degree in Finance. He also attended the University of Southern California where he received and MBA. Michael lived in San Francisco for five years working for Ernst & Young, and spent two years working for Koll Development on projects in Mexico, China, Malaysia, and San Diego. Michael is currently a partner at Focus Real Estate in Newport Beach, and is a guest lecturer at the graduate real estate program at USC.
    Ashley and Michael began their courtship a year ago. On December 20th, 2009, Michael surprised her by proposing marriage on bended knee at sunset on the beach in Corona Del Mar, followed by a large family engagement dinner.
    The happy couple will exchange vows among family and friends on October 16, 2010 in Los Angeles. The newlyweds will make their home in Newport Beach.
