Chief Michael and Dr. Stephanie Giuntoli
Michael James Giuntoli, son of Bakersfield resident Donna Giuntoli and the late James Mike Giuntoli, was recently promoted to the rank of E-7 Chief Petty Officer, United States Coast Guard (USCG). Chief Giuntoli is currently stationed at Air Station Miami, home of the busiest air sea rescue unit in the world, located in Opa Locka Florida.
Michael is married to Stephanie Lynne Olson, daughter of Susan and Ben Laverty III, of Bakersfield and Milton & Carol Olson Jr. of Kirkland, WA. Stephanie and Michael met in 1987 during their senior year at Bakersfield High School and married in June 1991 at First Presbyterian Church in Bakersfield. They currently reside in Cooper City, Florida with their two children, Tyler, 16 and Madison 13. Tyler is an honor student participating in Naval ROTC, debate, cross-country, track and triathlons. Madison, also and honor student, loves studying and performing hip-hop and jazz dance.
Stephanie is a Pharmacist employed by Target. Since joining the USCG Michael and Stephanie have been stationed in Alabama, North Carolina (Aviation Electronics Technician or AET training), Kodiak, Alaska (where Tyler was born), Port Angeles, Washington (where Madison was born), Florida (where Stephanie received her Doctor of Pharmacology at Nova Southeastern University, School of Pharmacy, in Miami) and San Francisco, California.
Michael has been a crew member on the HH-65A Dolphin search and rescue helicopter where he served as the AET until his promotion to Chief. His duties now include assisting the Base Commander and being in charge of the Air Maintenance Operations (AMO) shop, as well as other collateral duties. This is their second tour in southern Florida where they now own a home on one of the beautiful fresh water lakes north of Ft. Lauderdale.
