Bill and Phyllis (Walls) Smith
Congratulations for 65 Years of Marriage
Bill and Phyllis met in Oil Center (on China Grade Loop) when Phyllis was fifteen and Bill was sixteen. After Bill came home from WWII in 1945, he got out of the Navy and they were married in Phyllis’s family’s home in Oil Center.
Bill worked for National Cash Register doing repairs and maintenance. Phyllis worked for Posten’s then Montgomery Wards in the collections department. After having four children (Bill Jr., Sandra, Beth and Robbie) they added Curtis McClenny to their family when Curtis was about sixteen. They have embraced any and all into their family and can claim 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Throughout their marriage, they have enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting, and family functions. Most of the years have been spent in Bakersfield or Walker Basin. They still reside part-time Walker Basin and part-time Bakersfield.
By example, they have taught love, patience and respect for which their large family will always remember and be grateful.
Happy Anniversary from all your family. We love you
